The most common side effect of XANAX XR is sedation. Other common side effects include sleepiness, memory impairment, impaired speech, abnormal coordination and/or muscle action, and decreased libido.*

Until you know how XANAX XR will affect you, do not drive a car. And do not operate machinery that could cause you or others injury or harm.

If you experience any side effects form XANAX XR, talk to your doctor before stopping your medication.

Abruptly stopping or cutting down on your prescribed dosage of XANAX XR may cause a spectrum of discontinuation symptoms that can be unpleasant and even dangerous; the most important is seizure. Other more common discontinuation symptoms of XANAX XR include tremor, headache, insomnia, nervousness, diarrhea, depression, and decreased appetite.*

If you are thinking about discontinuing therapy, you should speak with your doctor first. Following the prescribing physician’s instructions correctly and reducing the dosage gradually can diminish discontinuation symptoms.
